Black Klansman
Adult memoir
"Butch, for the first time since arriving at the Corner Pocket
Lounge, spoke to Chuck, saying, 'In public the Klan is to be referred
to as The Organization or The Cause.' He explained his personal
anguish at wanting to express himself violently in his relationship
with 'niggers,' yet denying himself that opportunity and satisfaction
because he always remembered the nonviolent policies of the
organization. 'It's hard to hold back sometimes, you know? But the
Cause is more important. The plans we have will really change the
world.'"
That was what Ron Stallworth, author of Black Klansman, feared.
He was a detective on a very unique and dangerous undercover mission.
One October day in 1978, scanning newspapers for "...information
concerning any hint of subversive activity that might have an impact
on the welfare and safety of Colorado Springs," he came upon a
classified ad offering information about the KKK. Sure that it was
merely a prank, he sent for the information, imagining he might
receive a pamphlet or brochure, if anything. Imagine his surprise
when he received a call from a local organizer asking if he'd like to
join the Colorado Springs chapter. He managed to fool the caller into
thinking he was a KKK sympathizer and wannabe. The organizer set up a
meeting. There was only one problem...
...Stallworth was obviously black. He would not have been well
received. But he wasn't going to let a detail like that get in the
way of his getting intelligence on and maybe even helping take down
one of the best known racist organizations in the nation. You'll have
to read the book to discover his ingenious solution to the problem.
Black Klansman combines riveting true life drama with a timely
reminder that the KKK keeps reinventing itself and coming back to lure
new generations into its mission.
On a purrrsonal note, Amber and Brian just dropped by to visit Joey
and give him a nice big snack of treats. Joey enjoyed the visit and
the treats. Amber and Brian got to see the little black cat who
watches Joey through the window. They left plenty of treats that will
help keep Joey interested in and eating his cat food.
A great big shout out goes out to Amber, Brian, and the best little
cat in the world who they bring happiness to.
